More renewable projects progress in Chile

AES Chile has submitted its EIA to government authorities for Project Inna, making it one of only a handful of proposed renewable ammonia projects in Chile currently at the key permitting stage. In other news, Mejillones Ammonia Energy will build a new wastewater treatment plant to secure water supplies for its Project Volta, and three mega-projects in the southern Magallanes region have been granted maritime concessions for terminal construction.

New ammonia fuel production plant for Florø, Norway

North Ammonia and Fjord Base Holding will develop a renewable ammonia production facility at the Fjord Base maritime logistics hub in Florø, Norway. Yara and Azane have already received safety approvals to construct their first ammonia bunker facility at Fjord Base, consisting of one of Azane’s floating ammonia bunker barges.

Construction of EXMAR’s ammonia-powered vessels begins in South Korea

Enova: funding for seven ammonia-fueled vessels to sail in Norway

VTTI: open season for Project Amplifhy in Rotterdam and Antwerp

In order to achieve the aggressive Hydrogen Shot initiative goal of $1/kg production cost by 2030, the US Department of Energy sets out a series of performance and capital cost targets for established and lower-TRL electrolyser technologies. Meanwhile, Australia's national science agency CSIRO projects that Australia’s hydrogen electrolyser manufacturing sector could generate AU$1.7 billion in revenue annually by 2050.

US Department of Energy: new action plans for decarbonizing transport

The marine action plan urges the federal government to prioritize the implementation of electrolytic ammonia and methanol fuel in ocean-going vessels by 2050. A detailed action roadmap is presented, including infrastructure deployment, retrofits and upgrades to existing vessels.
